Water is the clean water that comes into your house for drinking, showers, toilets, laundry, dishes, and everything else that uses a faucet.

Wastewater, sometimes called sewer service, is what happens after you use that water. Water from toilets, sinks, showers, washing machines, and other drains is carried away from your house and sent through the wastewater system.

You are charged for both services. Depending on where you live in Harvest, they may be handled by different utility providers.

Your water provider and wastewater provider depend on which side of Harvest Way you live on.

For District 2 homes, Argyle Water Supply Corporation puts the wastewater charge on your bill even though the Town of Argyle sets the wastewater rates and policy.

Your water meter can measure how much clean water enters your home. But most homes do not have another meter measuring exactly how much water leaves through the drains. Some of the water you buy never enters the wastewater system at all; water used on your lawn, for example, stays outside.

So Northlake and Argyle use water use during December, January, and February to estimate how much wastewater a typical home sends into the sewer system. Those months are used because people usually water their lawns less during winter, which gives the utility a better estimate of normal indoor water use.

That winter average is then used to help calculate your residential wastewater charge. If you use a lot of water on your lawn in July, your water bill can go up, but your wastewater charge does not automatically rise with it.

The January freeze fell within the winter-average period. A District 1 board member reported that Northlake made a one-time adjustment after public discussion of the effect on west-side homes. Northlake’s usual December-through-February rule remains in place unless the town adopts a later change.

Argyle uses the same three winter months for District 2 homes. The public record reviewed for this page did not show whether Argyle adjusted the January 2026 period.
