Police service in Harvest
Harvest has two different police arrangements.
Fun fact: Much of Harvest sits outside incorporated town limits. An Argyle or Northlake mailing address does not automatically make that town’s police department responsible for your home. The Belmont districts can pay a nearby town for additional police service, while the Denton County Sheriff serves unincorporated areas.
District 1 (generally west of Harvest Way): Belmont 1 currently contracts with Northlake Police for law-enforcement service. The current agreement runs through October 2, 2027. What happens after that will depend on a future agreement between Belmont 1 and Northlake.
District 2 (generally east of Harvest Way): Belmont 2’s contract with Argyle Police ended May 31, 2026. The main issue was cost. Belmont 2 says the proposed new 30-year agreement would have increased the cost from $228.98 per household to $1,790.45 per household. The district rejected the new agreement, and the Denton County Sheriff began handling regular patrols and non-emergency calls on June 1.
Will 911 take longer in District 2 (generally east of Harvest Way) now?
Belmont 2 says 911 emergency calls are routed to the closest available officer, regardless of jurisdiction. A Denton County sheriff’s deputy, Argyle police officer, or Northlake police officer may respond depending on who is available and closest. The change mainly affects regular patrols and non-emergency service.
For a non-emergency incident in District 1 (generally west of Harvest Way), call Denton County dispatch at 940-349-1600, ext. 9. A Northlake officer will be dispatched or contact you. The Northlake Police administrative line is 940-648-4804. District 2 (generally east of Harvest Way) residents use the Denton County Sheriff at 940-349-1600.
